The chef
Rooted in Alaska.
Clayton Jones is a Culinary Institute graduate and Certified Executive Chef with over 10 years in Alaska's culinary scene. He draws on globally inspired, scratch-made cooking and Alaska's exceptional local meats and produce to create meals that are as rooted in place as they are in craft.
Ember Custom Foods was founded in 2020 with a simple belief: Alaska families deserve great food at the end of a hard week. Clayton built the meal prep model around Saturday pickup to keep everything fresh—no subscriptions, no minimums, no compromises. Just chef-made food, ready when you need it.
Mission
“Make weeknight dinners special. Give Alaska families their time back. Invest in Alaska's future, one meal at a time.”
How it started
A simple belief.
Ember Custom Foods was founded in 2020 on a premise that seems obvious in hindsight: Anchorage families deserve restaurant-quality food at the end of a hard week without the restaurant price tag or the effort of cooking.
Chef Clayton built the Saturday pickup model deliberately. No delivery drivers cutting corners on cold chain. No subscriptions locking you in when your schedule changes. No minimums penalizing a solo order. Just fresh, chef-made food available to anyone who wants it, every week.
The name came naturally. A tended fire — the kind that stays warm through the Alaskan dark — is exactly the feeling Clayton wanted to deliver with every meal.
